Captain Black pipe tobacco has been known by pipe smokers around the world for many decades, including me myself. The first time I smoke pipe in the end of 1970s is with Captain Black Original tobacco.
At that time is easy to find that tobacco in Jakarta, Indonesia. We will find at the cigarette stall in the edge of the road in Central or South Jakarta, and the prices are not so expensive.
Until today, Captain Black is still the biggest selling line of tobaccos in the United States for almost fifty years. This time we talk about the Captain Black pipe tobacco or Captain Black Original (Regular) tobacco or in the pouch package.

The tobacco is a mixture of Virginia, Burley and Black Cavendish with a distinctively warm, pleasantly sweet flavor and very nice aroma. This tobacco produced by Lane Limited, USA since 1972.

Captain Black Pipe Tobacco Review
History of Lane Limited:
Originally Lane Limited founded in Dresden, Germany in 1890, the company specialized in the highest quality pipe and roll-your-own (RYO) tobaccos. One of the grandson founders is Herman G. Lane, immigrates to the United States in 1938 and re-established the company in Manhattan.
Lane Ltd. pipe tobaccos were manufactured at 25 Beekman Street, New York City until 1983. Production facilities moved to Tucker, Georgia, just outside of Atlanta in 1983.
Over the decades, Lane Ltd. has changes the ownership for several (Brown and Williamson, Conwood and Reynolds), but the hearth of the company remain consistent ”the folks who actually produce the tobacco.”
In fact, there are employees at the Tucker facility who also worked at the original plant in Manhattan.
In March 2011, Lane Ltd. was purchased by Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG), headquarter at Copenhagen, Denmark. STG knowing as the world number one manufacturer of pipe tobacco and cigar. June 1, 2012, Lane Ltd was officially renamed as Scandinavian Tobacco Group Lane Ltd.
